It’s Time to Shovel!!!
February 29, 2012
Did you know that one shovel full of wet snow can weight up to 25lbs?? How many shovel fulls does it take to clear your drive way? Do the answers to these questions sounds like a workout comparable to your work out routine? We are sure they do! Today the South Lake Tahoe Real Estate Group, with great tips from The Fit Doctor, would like to give you some advice to prepare your body for shoveling your drive way!
- First give your body a quick warm up! Maybe some jumping jacks or quick spin on a stationary bike.
- Stretch the muscles in your lower back, hamstrings and shoulders. Remember to hold your stretch for at least 30-90 seconds.
- It good to avoid drinking your coffee until you are done shoveling.
- When shoveling, make sure your footing is solid and you are bending at your hips and legs.
- Keep your shovelfuls light and don’t twist with a full shovel. This will generate torque on the spine.
- Give yourself a reasonable amount of time to clear your drive way. Consider your fitness level!
- Purchase two good large shovels, one for scooping and one for plowing.

Best Rafting Season in Years!
May 21, 2011
“The Lake Tahoe Basin is known for its beautiful snow capped Mountians and with our record setting snow season behind us, California is looking foward to a great rafting season!” – South Lake Tahoe Real Estate Team
By Tom Stienstra, San Francisco Chronicle
In a raft at the Clavey Falls cascade on the Tuolumne River, guides say you can find out what it feels like to be “a snowball in hell.”
On the South Fork American, a succession of rapids such as Meatgrinder, Troublemaker and other Class III+ water make it California’s most popular rafting river. Class III+, of course, is exciting but not death-defying on a scale of I (easy for anybody) to VI (can’t be attempted without risk of death).
Yet there is nothing like the Class V Tunnel Chute on the South Fork American, where rafting feels like you’re being shot down a 100-foot sluice box.
